Every industry has a room where the real conversations happen. In trucking it's not a conference hall — it's a fuel island at 5 a.m., a dock office while you wait out detention, a group chat where somebody just got burned on a lane and wants to make sure nobody else does.
The Long Haul is our attempt to put that room on the record.
What this blog is
We're building Haitruck — a freight marketplace that fits in a pocket. Along the way we talk to a lot of owner-operators, dispatchers, and small fleet owners, and we keep hearing the same thing: the information that actually moves the needle is scattered, stale, or locked behind someone's sales pitch.
So we're going to publish it here instead. Expect three kinds of posts:
- Rate and lane intel. What we're seeing in the market, explained in plain language — no twelve-tab spreadsheet required.
- Playbooks. Practical, checkable advice: how to vet a broker, when deadhead math says walk away, what to look for in detention terms before you sign.
- Build notes. We're building Haitruck in the open. When we ship something, change course, or get something wrong, we'll write it down here.
Who it's for
If you drive, dispatch, or run a small fleet, this is for you. We write for the person who owns the truck payment, not the person who owns the building.
That also shapes how we write. Posts here are short enough to read at a fuel stop, specific enough to act on, and honest about what we don't know yet.
Cadence
New posts land daily — some short, some long, all useful. If we don't have something worth your time, we'd rather skip a day than pad one out.
Ride along
The app is coming to iOS soon. If you want in early — and you want a say in what we build — join the waitlist. Waitlist members get early access and a direct line to the team.
See you down the road.
